Goals

Another question I get asked is "What is your goal for this race?"  Goals will vary from person to person.  Some will want to win the entire event while others will just want to cross the finish line.  Here are some of my goals.

-Not hyperventilate during the first few minutes of the swim.
-Eat and drink consistently while on the bike.
-Don't let others dictate my pace, race my own race.
-Run, not walk through the aid stations during the marathon.
-Get to the finish
-Be able to walk back to my room under my own power
-Bypass the medical tent
-Encourage as many people as I can to get through the race...cuz it's gonna hurt.

Today was a good day. 4000 yard swim, a little lunch break and then a 2.5 hour ride on a beautiful 68 degree day in Oakland.  It was great to see so many people out riding.  I am working tonight so hopefully I will get some sleep.  Oh, got to give a shout out to Alfonso Munoz who is registering for his first Ironman 70.3 tomorrow.  I am going to do the race with and look forward to training with him.  Sleep well all.
